2nd Caribbean Congress for Youth and Adolescent Health kick off
The 2nd Caribbean Congress for Youth and Adolescent Health (CCYAH) will kick off today, October 20, in Kingston, Jamaica. CCAYH is a unique event which focuses on the health of young people in the Caribbean region. This year’s congress will run from October 20 to 22, 2022.
The objectives of the Congress will be pursued through an agenda consisting of plenary and abstract-driven sessions, skills-building workshops, poster presentations and displays, and thematic side-events built around five tracks:
- COVID-19 and young people
- Sexual-reproductive health and rights, HIV and STI
- Nutrition, physical activity, sports, and youth development
- Mental health, substance use, violence, and injuries
- Climate change and the environment
Participants in the Congress will represent a large cross-section of areas and stakeholders, including policymakers, program managers, youth leaders and activists, health care providers, civil society leaders, development partners and (of course) youth themselves! Special efforts will be made to engage especially vulnerable youth, including those with disabilities, migrant youth, youth living with HIV and chronic conditions and LGBTQI youth.
The first Congress, which took place in October 2019 in Trinidad and Tobago, drew approximately 200 attendees.
#CCAYH2022 will advance the discussion generated from the 2019 event and review progress made in the implementation of the Caribbean Road Map for the Health and well-being of Adolescents and Youth
