57.5% wants Elon Musk to step down as Twitter CEO
Twitter users voted in a poll for Elon Musk to step down as the social media platform’s chief executive amid a backlash against the billionaire less than two months after he assumed the position.
According to a poll launched by Musk himself on Sunday evening, December 18, approximately 57.5% of respondents supported his resignation as Twitter’s CEO, while 42.5% opposed the notion. Over 17.5 million individuals participated in the election.
Musk stated on Sunday that he would abide by the findings of the vote, but he did not specify when he would resign if the survey indicated he should.
In response to a Twitter user’s comment about a prospective change in CEO, Musk stated, “There is no replacement.”
“Elon,” “CEO of Twitter,” “vote Yes”, and “vote No” were among the top trends on Twitter.
The survey follows Twitter’s policy modification, which prohibits accounts created purely for the purpose of promoting other social media companies and content containing links or usernames for competing platforms.
