Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19
First Member of Royal Family to Test Positive
Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son and the heir to the British throne has tested positive for COVID-19, Clarence House confirmed.
“The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”
Further, the household said that the Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus.
Both, Charles and Camilla, are self-isolating at home in Scotland.
As to where the Prince of Wales could have acquired the virus, Clarence House said it is difficult to tell.
“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
Prince Charles’s last public engagement was on March 12, but he did have several private meetings with Highgrove and Duchy individuals, all of whom have been made aware. The night before, the prince attended the Prince’s Trust Awards at the London Palladium, where he met award-winners and charity supporters.
After which, the Royal couple went to Highgrove House, Prince Charles’ residence in west England, on March 13 and then travelled to their Birkhall residence on the Balmoral estate in Scotland on Sunday.
A source said his doctor’s most conservative estimate was that Charles was contagious on March 13.
His household staff at Birkhall are now self-isolating at their own homes.
The Queen in “good health”
The prince last saw the Queen on 12 March.
The Queen, with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh left London for Windsor Castle on March 19.
Following Prince Charles’ diagnosis, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Majesty The Queen remains in good health.
“The Queen last saw the Prince of Wales briefly after the investiture on the morning of the 12th March and is following all the appropriate advice regarding her welfare. We will not be commenting further.”
