CARICOM Energy Month: ‘Our Future is Electric’
CARICOM Energy Month will be observed in November under the theme ‘Our Future is Electric’.
CARICOM Energy Month is aimed at:
- engaging regional stakeholders on cross-cutting issues and multi-sectoral actions that can build economic, social, environmental, and climate resilience within CARICOM;
- sharing information and knowledge on strategies and actions being taken for transforming the region’s energy systems to become low-carbon, resilient and sustainable; and
- highlighting regional and international lessons learned and success stories in public and private sectors of the sustainable energy transition relevant to the CARICOM context
The CARICOM Secretariat is observing the month in collaboration with key regional institutions, development partners and Member States.
#CEM2022 theme highlights the importance of #decarbonizing energy systems with low-carbon energy sources for power generation & end-use sectors such as transport and cooking.
The month of activities includes a kilo walk which will raise awareness of renewable energy and energy efficiency; CARICOM Women in Sustainable Energy awards; photo and short film competitions; and a Regional Renewable Energy Forum in Suriname.
