Cancer Society of The Bahamas announces 21st Annual Ball
Release – The Cancer Society of The Bahamas is thrilled to announce its 21st Annual Ball, “The Met Gala: Golden Celebration,” on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Grand Ballroom at Atlantis Paradise Island.
“We are excited to celebrate our 21st year of fundraising and continue our mission to raise awareness and support for those affected by cancer in The Bahamas. The Met Gala: Golden Celebration promises to be a night of elegance and celebration, and we look forward to making a difference in the fight against cancer,” Lovern Wildgoose, Co-Chair of the Ball Committee. She further revealed that the goal of this year’s Ball is to donate $100,000 to the Cancer Society.
Dr Nicholas Fox, Vice President Cancer Society of the Bahamas, revealed this year’s awardees. Lowe’s Pharmacy Ltd. is 2023 the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Mrs Gina Gonzalez-Rolle is the recipient of this year’s Susan Andrew’s Award.
Dr Fox added, “Funds raised from this year’s Ball are vital for the continued support of cancer patients from the Family Islands through our Cancer Caring Centre, which will provide support for those affected by cancer from the islands.”
This year’s ball promises to be a night to remember as we celebrate the Cancer Society’s mission to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by cancer. The event will be held in honour of all cancer survivors and those who have lost their lives to the disease.
“Guests can expect a night of glamour and elegance as we celebrate our 21st year of fundraising with a “Golden Celebration” theme in honour of the country’s 50th Independence Celebrations. A black-tie high fashion affair, attendees are encouraged to dress the colours of the Bahamian flag and the colours of cancer, in line with the theme of the night,” added Nicole Leary-Imhoff, Co-Chair of the Ball Committee.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception during which there will be a fashion show featuring leading Bahamian fashion designers showcasing ‘All things Bahamian’. The Ball will continue with a 5-course lavish dinner and of course, dancing and live entertainment.
There will also be a silent auction and raffle, offering guests the opportunity to bid on fantastic items generously donated by local businesses and individuals.
All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Cancer Society’s various initiatives, including cancer research, patient support, and education programs.
“Join us for a night of celebration and support, and let’s make a difference in the fight against cancer. For tickets or sponsorship opportunities, please contact The Cancer Society of the Bahamas at cancersociety@hotmail.com or 323-4482,” added Mrs Leary-Imhoff
