Dominica restricts Russian and Belarusian nationals from obtaining second citizenship

The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has restricted Russian and Belarusian nationals from obtaining Dominican citizenship.

In a statement issued by the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) to all authorized agents on March 4, 2022, the CBIU said that the processing of applications from Russians and Belarusians will be suspended immediately.

“In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is suspending the processing of all new applications from Russian and Belarusians with immediate effect.”

The CBIU said that the decision was made in order to safeguard the global community and preserve the integrity of the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Programme.

Ambassador Emmanuel Nanthan, CBIU Head, has ordered all authorized agents to disseminate the information to all relevant parties and to conform with the said instructions.

Further, all agents were advised to contact the unit for any queries.

A few days ago, the European Commission has issued further restrictive economic sanctions that will further isolate Russia from the international financial system.
