Grenada celebrates double-digit growth in tourism arrivals
Grenada was recently acknowledged by The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) in collaboration with ForwardKeys for its substantial double-digit increase in overseas visitor arrivals during the first half of 2024. This announcement was disclosed in the most recent Caribbean Travel Trends report, distributed at the Caribbean Travel Forum held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Grenada, also known as “The Spice Isle,” is anticipating a remarkable 19% increase in tourist arrivals during the first half of 2024 compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the island has already achieved a 30% increase in visitor arrivals for the first quarter of 2024, underscoring its successful endeavours to expand its tourism sector through strategic marketing campaigns, sustainable tourism initiatives, and improved connectivity. Grenada and St. Maarten are both experiencing remarkable growth rates.
Additionally, Grenada was chosen as one of only four destinations—the other three being the U.S. Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico—to serve as a case study that emphasizes the significance of sustainability initiatives in the tourism sector. This acknowledgement emphasizes the island’s dedication to the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage while attracting environmentally conscious travellers.
Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, stated, “Our focus on sustainable tourism and community involvement has been central to our growth. By offering unique experiences such as the recently expanded Molinière Underwater Sculpture Park, we have been able to attract eco-conscious travelers while preserving our natural and cultural heritage.”
The CHTA and ForwardKeys report underscores the significance of data-driven insights in navigating the changing travel landscape. This recognition emphasizes the island’s capacity to maintain its development trajectory in the global market as Grenada continues to leverage its tourism strengths.
