KLM’s direct service from Amsterdam to Barbados returns

After a successful first season in the winter of 2021-2022, KLM will start flying to Barbados again on October 18, 2022.

The Dutch national airline will resume direct service from Amsterdam to Barbados thrice weekly — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

The KLM connection is particularly appealing for passengers from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, and Nordic countries because of the accessibility offered by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Jens Thraenhart, the CEO of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), said he is looking forward to the return of this flight to showcase the beauty of Barbados

“The European market is an important one for Barbados, and our offices in Europe have been working to make it easier for European visitors to get to Barbados. Since KLM operates out of 90 cities in Europe, the return of this flight to Barbados makes the island a hub that everyone can get to.”

Thraenhart is thankful that KLM sees Barbados as a good winter destination for its hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and added that they would work on programs in the market to support and ensure a productive season.

Emile Arnst, manager of destination and tourism development at Air France-KLM, agreed, saying, “We are happy to return to Barbados this winter and to encourage people to explore this exotic gem in the Caribbean via our hub at Amsterdam.”

BTMI is especially pleased with the return of this flight as it is just in time for the annual Barbados Food and Rum Festival, which returns from October 27 to 30. It is a part of the activities slated for the winter season to add excitement to the calendar. BTMI also started a campaign to promote KLM as an airline partner at Schiphol Airport.

KLM will fly to Barbados from October 18 to March 2023. Flights will depart onboard an A330-200 with a two-class configuration from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at 10:05 a.m. and arrive at Barbados Grantley Adams Airport at 14:20 local time.
