Caribbean hotel chain to close due to COVID-19
The management of Sandals and Beaches Resorts announced the temporary closure of their properties in the Caribbean amid the spread of the pandemic COVID-19.
Sandals and Beaches Resort, an all-inclusive luxury resort chain that operates nineteen properties across seven Caribbean islands, will be closed for a month and a half.
In a statement, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, founder and chairman of Sandals & Beaches Resorts is saddened with the pronouncement.
“Never could we have imagined the impact the current global health crisis would have on the world. In these unprecedented times, and now more than ever, the safety and health of our valued guests and team members is of paramount importance. Recent global travel warnings, coupled with airline carrier cancellations, have compelled us to make the difficult decision to close all Sandals and Beaches Resorts from the period of March 30 to May 15, 2020.”
He also stated that the hotel chain will not accept new arrivals come March 23, 2020.
Future plans
Stewart then assured guests that there is no need to fuss about the postponement of their dream vacation. Adding that a dedicated team will reach out to them in the upcoming days.
“We also want to alleviate any additional worry you might have about your upcoming vacation. Our dedicated team will be reaching out to you personally to assist with rescheduling your plans. This way, you can spend less time trying to reach us and more time with your loved ones.”
The hotel tycoon likewise expresses his positivity that Sandals and Beaches Resort, as well as the Caribbean tourism, will be able to bounce back better.
“The Caribbean is resilient. We have always come back better, stronger and more passionate than ever… we will take this time to make further enhancements to our resorts so that we will continue to surpass your expectations and provide you with the luxury-included vacation you so well deserve.”
