Roseau South to benefit from Eggleston Housing Development
Media Release – Dominica advances to its goal of providing five thousand climate-resilient homes for the most vulnerable.
Local contractors have mobilized to carry out construction works for the new developments rolled out in various locations across the island – one of which is Eggleston.
For phase 1 of the Eggleston Housing Project, MMC Development Ltd has tapped seven local contractors to build sixteen (16) three-bedroom homes.
Each structure is a standalone unit, with the following features:
- One master bedroom with toilet and bath
- Two standard bedrooms
- One sharing toilet and bath
- Living room
- Dining Room
- Kitchen
- Laundry area
Roseau South Parliamentary Representative, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, welcomed the development for the constituency.
“It is going to be a development whereby each and everybody will assist and will be part and parcel of what is going on in Roseau South.”
Lockhart-Hypolite emphasized that the government’s primary goal is to impact people’s lives and change their economic landscape.
Phase 1 is expected to be completed in about twelve months, followed by the handing over of keys to beneficiaries.
Once completed, this development will become a model for small communities that should be adopted around the region, said Cal Murad, Projects Director of MMC Development Ltd.
