SLASPA observes World Tourism Day

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) joins with its local tourism partners in celebrating World Tourism Day under the theme “Rethinking Tourism.”

SLASPA continues to advocate through its Port Council and the Government of Saint Lucia to advance its intention to modernize our Air and Sea Ports infrastructure. These approaches and the new strategic direction set by management will work together to expand and develop our tourism product.

For more than 39 years, SLASPA, through its air and sea ports, remains the first welcome for hundreds of thousands of visitors to our beautiful shores in Saint Lucia. We remain committed and focused on enhancing our facilities and working with the Government of Saint Lucia, our industry partners, and other stakeholders to ensure continued compliance and development of critical industry-related areas. Undoubtedly, this collaborative approach has contributed to global recognition as the Best Honeymoon destination and, more recently Best Adventure Tourism destination.

SLASPA is exploring opportunities to extract the benefits of the blue economy using innovative and tested approaches, in line with the focus of the government of Saint Lucia. With the Hewanorra International Airport (HIA) in the main, management has strategically focused on exploring modern technological approaches to simplify the customer journey and experience.

On this day, SLASPA salutes all tourism-related practitioners. These include port health workers, airport ground handlers, airline employees, customs and immigration, destination management companies, taxi and car rentals, and the accommodation sector. In particular, recognition is made of all our employees in their respective capacities who contribute to tourism in Saint Lucia. Today, we salute our air traffic controllers, airport administrative staff, port police officers, marine pilots, lighthouse keepers, port officers at our bays and marinas, marine pilots, pilot boat captains, linesmen and all who work behind the scenes collectively. Let us as a country work together to solidify our efforts toward developing and sustaining tourism in Saint Lucia.
