Commonwealth Secretary-General appointed Sibbuku in Hamusonde Chiefdom

Chief Hamusonde has conferred Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland with a status of Subbuku (Head Woman) in his chiefdom.

Speaking through a representative, Gift Monde, at the 2022 Lwiindi-Lwanza traditional ceremony, Hamusonde said that the recognition is for Scotland’s contribution to saving the lives in his chiefdom.

He further explained that the Commonwealth Secretary-General played a critical role in ensuring that Zambia was on a stable path and that the rule of law was exercised during and after the 2021 general election.

Patricia Scotland expressed her delight to be conferred as the Head Woman by Chief Hamusonde.

“I am incredibly honoured to be conferred as Head Women by Chief Hamusonde of the Lundwe people of Bweengna area in Monze district.”

She further added that it was a tremendous honour and will continue to support and be of service to Zambia and its people.

The Commonwealth Secretary was also recently honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in Delhi while she was on a visit to India.

Scotland was re-elected for a second term during the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda, where she got 27 votes and won by three votes while defeating Kamina Johnson Foreign Minister of Jamaica, who got 24 votes.
